New music for bass ensemble featuring Upright Bass (arco & pizzacato) Resophonic Bass (picked & slide), Chau Gong, and the Chinese wind instrument: Hulusi. Some of the gear used to make this record: Looperlative LP-1 (looping device) a few stomp boxes (bass overdrive, phase shifter, delay, flanger, auto wah), and a little art tube preamp. The album was recorded half live (basically me playing in my studio using live looping) and the other half overdubbing using a laptop and Digital Performer. There are a few effects in the laptop (noise gate on the Hulusi, a bit of pitch shift on the gong, some ring modulator on one of the reso bass parts (track 2), a few automated frequency sweeps and, of coarse, reverb!).
